GIRAF13 Submissions
Thanks for your interest in the 13th annual Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival!

We're looking for independent and artful animated films to share with our audience in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. That can mean abstract or narrative, hand-drawn or computer-generated, student films or well-established professionals, or somewhere in between. We want films we can be excited about, films that are pushing forward what animation can do, and films that make us feel things (even if that feeling is just "oh my gosh, this is ridiculous").

If you want a better sense of what we love, feel free to check out our Vimeo channel (https://vimeo.com/channels/974651) and last year's jury and audience winners at http://giraffest.ca.

No commercial work, please — some of those are super cool, but commercials, explainers, festival stingers and those sorts of things fall outside what our festival is all about. The festival is also aimed at an adult audience, so we rarely select films that are explicitly aimed at children.

Submissions close July 15, 2017, but early submissions are always appreciated.

That should cover it, but if you have any questions, please drop us a line at info@quickdrawanimation.ca.

Underrepresented groups
It's important to us at GIRAF to include films from a wide variety of perspectives and backgrounds. If you identify as a member of a group that tends to be underrepresented and feel comfortable telling us, leave us a quick note below. This isn't required and won't affect your chances of getting into the festival but it helps us understand who's applying to the festival and what blind spots we might have.

Anything else you'd like us to know
Odd trivia, friendly greetings or anything else you think might help us in our decision.
Your answer
How did you hear about GIRAF?
Your answer
I would like to be contacted for future submission opportunities with the GIRAF Animation Festival
In other words, we can send you our next call for submissions directly if you want us to. We send around one email per year to this list, but please don't feel obligated to say yes.
I agree to the following:
By submitting this form, you are submitting your film for consideration at the GIRAF animation festival in November, 2017. This means you really should be someone who is authorized to distribute the film you are submitting, and you will be held responsible for any issues and fees that arise from any misrepresentation on your part. It also means that the screener link and password will be shared with members of our programming committee, but we promise not to share it outside of that. Submission does not guarantee acceptance. We will contact all invited films at the email address provided, so please double-check that it is correct. No submitted films will be screened without permission from the appropriate rightsholder.
