Bridge Project 2019 Choreographer Application / Winter Session
The Bridge Project is Velocity’s four-week program for movement-based artists new to making work in Seattle, or who have been making work in Seattle for three years or less.

This intensive residency offers four artists the opportunity to receive creative, financial, and administrative
support of a fully produced weekend of performances at Velocity. Choreographers receive up to 45 hours of free rehearsal space for a new project while working with a cast of auditioned dancers.

The project simultaneously offers dancers and choreographers the opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom work and performance while establishing relationships with a choreographer and other dancers.

We are now accepting applications for both Winter 2019 Bridge Project, and will be expecting four artists (one a UW Dance Resident).

Winter 2019 Bridge Project Dates:
• Audition // Saturday, December 8, 2018 / 3PM-5PM
• Intensive Residency // January 7-31, 2019 / M-F three (3) hours each day
• Tech Sharing // January 24, 2019 / 6PM-9:30PM
• Technical Week // January 28-31, 2019 / three (3)-hour tech + dress rehearsal
• Performances (four shows) // January 31-February 3 2019

For Winter 2019 Bridge Project, we are happy to continue the Bridge Project UW Dance Residency, a
partnership of Velocity and the UW Dance Program. This award will go to a graduate of the University of
Washington who has been choreographing in Seattle, outside of school, for three years or less. Graduate
must be available to rehearse at UW weeknights 6:30PM-9:30PM M-F (or have availability on weekends)

Bridge Project choreographers receive:
• Fully produced weekend of performances in Velocity’s Founders Theater
• Three (3) weeks of rehearsal space at either Velocity or UW (graduate applicant only), three (3)
hours a day (M-F)
• One (1) week of technical rehearsals and performances
• Costume stipend
• Velocity-produced audition to find your cast
(Performer audition is Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 3-5 pm in Founders Studio. Choreographers must be available at this time to teach material, select a cast, and stay afterwards to discuss casting and The Bridge Project artists.)
