RISE Event Expectations for Youth to complete
SOAR has the following expectations from you in order to make this experience as fun and safe as possible for each and every person present. These expectations apply as soon as you are picked up in the car by a SOAR team member.
Please read each section below and acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to follow these expectations:

No coming to group high/under the influence, and no contraband of any kind - this includes illegal substances, marijuana, tobacco, vapes, puff bars, alcohol, weapons, sharp objects, lighters, etc.

[If you are not sure if something that you want to bring with you falls under this category, consider if it is something you would be okay with your guardians/professional team knowing about. Then you can choose whether or not to bring it back inside your home/car prior to coming to the event, or keeping it inside your pocket/backpack. You can also ask SOAR staff if you are unsure.]
*
No gang representation of any kind when with SOAR.

[This includes but is not limited to representation with hand signs, and tagging]
*
Swearing/cussing at others, putting others down, racism, verbal altercations, and conversations that could be triggering to others will not be allowed at group.
[Please use respect with other youth, SOAR team members, event hosts, etc. Please be mindful of conversations that could be inappropriate for others or that could be triggering to others.]
*
Youth must stay with the group or be with a SOAR team member at all times.
[We expect that no one wanders away from the group. If you have to leave the group for any reason, including using a restroom, please let a SOAR staff know, and they will accompany you as soon as possible. For everyones safety, a SOAR team member must be able to see you at all times.]
*
While in SOAR group programming, youth should not meet up, hang out, or have social interactions outside of group unless they are with a SOAR staff member
[SOAR programming is a time to focus on your own treatment goals and how you want to progress and grow. Social interactions outside of groups/SOAR supervision can lead to unintentional effects on group such as excluding others or tension due to conflict, which can distract from our goal of growing during treatment]
*
Respect the physical space/community, the other youth present, the SOAR team, and any partnering organizations.

[Respect includes but is not limited to respecting how others identify, only uplifting others (no putting others down - if you have something negative to say about someone else, please keep it to yourself or pull a team member aside to discuss), using manners, no displays of disrespect, such as middle fingers.]
*
Physical touch:
At times, SOAR activities involve physical touch; this will be discussed in group and staff will share what is and is not allowed. Please let SOAR staff know if you are uncomfortable with this at any point and we will make necessary changes. Outside of these activities, physical touch is not permitted. This includes a touch that you may believe is positive or playful. Touch of any kind could be uncomfortable or triggering to others. No physical fighting.
*
SOAR groups are not the space to look at or share inappropriate content or pictures.

[Please do not use SOAR time to look at inappropriate content on your own or with others. Inappropriate content could include: Content promoting hate based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, etc.; Content promoting violence; Sexually explicit content; Real or simulated violence; Content advocating unsafe or harmful behavior.]
*
Phone and/or electronic devices should be stored away during group.

Keeping your electronic devices stored away will allow for your presence and engagement at group

*
If you want/need to leave the event early, please be aware that if transported by a SOAR team member, they will likely not be able to leave the event early to provide you with transportation.

[If you want/need to leave the event early, your guardian or family member will have to support transportation. The plan to leave the event early/be picked up early will have to be approved by your guardian and confirmed with a SOAR team member.]
*
Please let a SOAR staff know if any of these expectations feel unreasonable prior to or throughout the event, and we will work to make accommodations, as we can.
Thank you for understanding the need to create a safe environment for ALL, taking into consideration age differences and different life experiences.
IF THESE EXPECTATIONS ARE NOT FOLLOWED DURING YOUR TIME WITH SOAR, THERE IS A POTENTIAL YOU MAY BE TAKEN HOME OR BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUP.  THE SOAR TEAM MAY LET YOUR GUARDIANS AND PROFESSIONAL TEAM KNOW OF ANY OCCURRENCE.
We will encourage and empower you to be the one to tell your guardian if there is a negative occurrence that needs to be shared. Please be sure to follow the above expectations during your time with SOAR, to avoid these negative consequences.
*
Please review SOAR's Guiding Principles to better understand who we are and the environment that we hope to provide.
I acknowledge that I have read and understand SOAR's Event Expectations.
