NCS Volunteer Application
Neuse Charter School (“School”) is aware of the value of community involvement through the use of volunteers in the school system. In order to assure a safe environment for our students, individuals must be approved by the school system before being allowed to serve in the schools.

Level II Volunteers require the approval of the Academy Director and clearance through the school system based on a criminal records background check. This level allows individuals to supervise students, such as tutors, field trip chaperones, volunteer coaches, mentors, club sponsors, etc.

In responding to questions regarding criminal history, please note that you must list any convictions other than minor traffic violations. DWI, underage alcohol possession, etc. must be listed. Failure to disclose any of the above can result in denial of volunteer approval.  If you have questions, please contact the Business Office at 919.626.2300.

In completing an application to be approved as a volunteer with Neuse Charter School, individuals should understand that in accordance with General Statute 115C-209.1, the School System may maintain a volunteer file on all volunteers. The records in this file are not generally open to the public, but may be disclosed to the following: the volunteer (you), the Superintendent and other supervisory staff, members of the Board of Directors or the Board Attorney, the parent of any child whom you serve, any other person who obtains a subpoena or court order.

As a Volunteer and NCS Community Member, I agree to 1) maintain high expectations of myself understanding that I am an advocate for education and school choice, 2) actively partner with staff and administration to support learning, 3) understand the key to their student's success is an open and transparent dialogue with staff and administration, 4) support equity and encourage others to do the same, and 5) model collaboration and cooperation in an effort to ensure a positive school experience for their student.  I understand failure to display these characteristics may result in the loss of any future ability to volunteer for NCS. *
I will respect the privacy rights of other individuals in the educational setting.  I will not record (visual or audio) any person on the campus of NCS without permission, nor will I post any photos to any social media outlets without permission of the school and/ or the staff member or parent of the student. *
All information regarding students and staff is confidential and should not be shared without permission.  Volunteers should not speak about students in hallways or public areas.  The information you may learn about our students is confidential and must not be discussed in the outside community.  You should never open any student's files without written permission. *
I understand that by working in a close environment with other volunteers, NCS staff, and students that I increase my risk of contracting communicable diseases.  I release NCS of all liability should I contract one of these during my volunteer time at NCS.  Additionally, I agree to notify NCS immediately should I become ill in any way so that appropriate contact tracing can be completed.   *
I release all liability from NCS should I become injured while volunteering at NCS.  Additionally, I agree to notify NCS immediately should an injury occur.   *
