Tim will be teaching how to take a piece of music and turn it into your own confidently using basic improv knowledge. Students should bring an instrument of their choice – this session is designed to be participatory in nature.
There are a few requirements:
Participants should: • have a working knowledge of basic music notation (recognize notes as written on staff with treble and/or bass clef)• be able to play a chromatic scale (continuous half steps) on their instrument• bring an instrument (or more) as this class will be participatory in nature -- (vocalists are encouraged to use a keyboard - if you don't have one of your own and cannot find one to borrow, let us know)• come with a notebook and pencil• come with a recording of a song of choice to work on (any genre)
