Canada Summer Games in St. Johns, NL -  August 8-24, 2025

Special Olympics Athletics coaches must have:
Athletics Canada NCCP Club Coach Certified Status in at least one Track or Field discipline,
Special Olympics Canada Competition Sport Workshop,
Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation,
and Respect in Sport.

Coaches must be so certified no later than 90 days prior to the opening ceremony (May 11, 2025).

Roles and Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities of Coaches
The role of the coach is to ensure the successful preparation, participation, and
performance of the athletes in the competitions and activities of the 2025 CSG.
It is expected that the coaches will project a very positive image of
Saskatchewan and be outstanding ambassadors of our province.
Under the leadership of the Chef de Mission, coaches and managers will demonstrate:
• Intensity in competitive performance to achieve the best results;
• Good sportsmanship & the spirit of fair play;
• Co-operation & friendship;
• Respect for others;
• Adherence to the rules and regulations established by the Host and Team Sask; and
• Team Spirit.

Pre-Games:
• Familiarization with the technical package, schedules, and information for your sport;
• Be aware of deadlines in regards to participant registration, uniform ordering, etc.;
• Liaison with assigned Mission Staff;
• Attend meetings and events scheduled by Team Sask or your sport;
• Adhere to requests from Mission Staff or the Team Sask Leadership Team.

During the Games:
• Ensure that the team participates in all official games functions including games opening
and closing ceremonies, sport ceremonies, receptions and games related activities;
• Attend technical meetings and coaches meetings;
• Be punctual for competitive events and meetings;
• Meet requests of the Host Community and Team Sask mission staff;
• Ensure that all team members comply with the rules and regulations established by the
Host Community and Team Sask (Code of Conduct);
• Ensure appropriate behaviour of team members while at the Games;
• Meet with assigned Mission Staff on a daily basis to receive messages and info updates;
• Responsible for team discipline during the games and while travelling to and from;
• Promote a positive image of your sport and of Saskatchewan;
• Ensure that athletes have an enjoyable and rewarding experience;
• Participate in activities and hosted events for the benefit and enjoyment of coaches (e.g. Team Sask Coach/Parent reception);
• Ensure you meet the NCCP coaching requirements required to coach at 2025
CSG as outlined in the Technical Package.
• Have fun and enjoy the experience!

Post-Games:
• Provide feedback upon request to assist in Team Sask’s participation and performance
in the 2025 CSG.
