Description of the Presentation:
Parents often wonder what their children are doing for so many hours each day on their electronic devices. The
harsh reality is there are predators and various types of criminals vying for
our youth’s attention while they’re online. For some kids, they’re influenced
into sending an inappropriate photo to someone they think is a peer, soon
realizing it’s someone threatening them for more photos – or money. For other
kids, they’re learning how to commit cybercrimes with real-life consequences
under the wing of an adult they met online. FBI Buffalo is concerned about
these growing threats and how they impact the safety and future of our youth.
In this virtual session, FBI Buffalo will discuss real-life examples of how predators and criminals are
manipulating our youth online. You’ll learn about warning signs and ways to
empower yourself and the children in your life to help prevent them from
becoming victims.
FBI Buffalo will also provide information on free resources available for parents and educators to use at
home and in the classroom to educate students on digital citizenship and online
safety.
This is a one-time presentation. It will not be recorded.
