What: Beginner training day for Scottish heavy athletics. Learn the ropes from experienced throwers and try all of the events for yourself. We will have practice time in the morning and run a mock competition in the afternoon. Events include stone put, weight for distance, hammer throw, caber toss, weight over bar, and sheaf toss. Check out the video below for a better look at these events! All proceeds from this year's training day will be a fundraiser for the Shen Track & Field booster club.

When: Sunday, June 29th, 9:00AM  until about 4:00PM, Rain or shine

Where: Shenendehowa High School East, 970 Rt. 146, Clifton Park, NY (Map for field and parking will be emailed)

Who: Men or women yrs 14-99, Scottish or not, prior experience not required.

We will be meeting up at Shenendehowa high school and aiming for a 9:00 start. The morning will be instruction and practice in the six events listed above. We will break for lunch from 12:00-1:00. We will have lunches for sale, or you can bring your own or get food nearby. The afternoon will be run as a competition format to test your medal against those in your class and learn how a comp works. Kilts are encouraged but not required. Spectators are welcome but must keep off the throwing field.

What to bring:
- Dress for a workout, and for the weather.
- BYO food/snacks, water will be provided for participants. Again, lunches will be available for purchase to support the track team.
- Lawn chair
- Some people like to bring a 10'x10' pop up tent or sun shade
