BEFORE YOU APPLY:
1.This event is live and in person. Speakers are required to be physically present at the event. This is not a virtual event, please make plans accordingly.
2. Kindly note, we are not accepting applications about life coaching or selling books. We are looking for new ideas/inventions in a variety of subjects (medical, research, technology, social, etc.).
3. We have two speech coaches you will be required to meet with (virtual).
4. Our fact-checking team will need information from you. We kindly request that you respond to our emails.
5. Priorities are given to Raleigh residents/people from Raleigh.
6. Applicants/Speakers are required to answer emails promptly.
7. Deadlines and helpful procedures will be shared with you if selected. Please be sure to read them. Please note, once accepted, if speakers are not responsive, we reserve the right to reject the application after acceptance.
8. Please don't make blanket statements "the biggest" or "all the research shows" etc.
9. Remember TEDx Is about ideas worth sharing not people -
10. A script of your speech will be required by our team
11. Your speech must not exceed 10 minutes
12. Speakers can NOT sell any product from the stage or self-promote.
13. No political statements
14. No divisive stans
15. Speakers are responsible for travel expenses, meals etc.
16. DUE Dates must be observed - Please check your emails.
17. A transcript will be required for the finalists
18. Prompt responses to emails is required
19. Please provide any references for research or statistics.
20. Process: Applications are now open, our team will review and recommend 20 potential speakers. Once contacted by our team to submit script, you will also be asked to send a 2 minute video (can use phone-professional video is not required) to pitch your idea.
Helpful Hints
To best prepare for this rigorous application process please become familiar with the technicalities of a TED quality speech. This is not a Toastmasters or a motivational stage appearance. TED is unique and will be respected as such. Remember, our goal is to help you get published on the TED site, following your talk Details of the aspects of a TED speech can be found in numerous books such as:

Your adherence to the guidelines are looked at by us, and therefore the TED committee who review your speech for publication during post production.
