Understanding of ACCE Policies
I understand ACCE, a private/public partnership, is funded on a year-to-year basis and is dependent upon the availability of program funds. If funding is available, and if all other program guidelines/criteria are met, ACCE will fund the tuition costs needed if financial aid is not available or does not adequately cover tuition. ACCE covers the cost of tuition for up to two years (60 credits). *
Required
I understand ACCE DOES NOT cover the costs of text books or supplies. *
Required
I understand I must complete New River Community College's placement tests and achieve satisfactory scores by March 31, 2018, and if I need more than nine (9) credits in developmental courses, I will NOT be eligible for ACCE. *
You may submit SAT or ACT documentation in place of taking the Virginia Placement Tests. SAT scores of 500 on both the reading and writing portions or an ACT composite score of 18 will exempt a student from the English placement test. An SAT score of 520 on the math portion or an ACT composite score of 22 will exempt a student from the math placement test.
Required
I understand that ACCE will pay for up to nine (9) credits in developmental courses (if needed) during my first and second semesters. These credits must be completed successfully, or I must reimburse the program for that semester.
I understand I must have an NRCC application on file in the NRCC Admissions Office and enroll in a program of study. *
If you have not applied to NRCC please do so through the following link: https://apply.vccs.edu/oa/launch.action
Required
I understand I must graduate from high school with a diploma and have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA. *
Required
I understand once enrolled at New River Community College, I must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA to keep ACCE eligibility. *
Required
I understand I must maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours during each semester while maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA. If I choose to take more than 15 credits, I will be responsible for the additional costs. If I does not meet these requirements in any given semester, I will no longer be eligible for ACCE and must reimburse the program for the amount issued for tuition during that semester. *
Required
I understand that I must take and pass a College Success Skills course (1 credit) during my first semester. If I do not pass this course, I must reimburse the program for the amount issued for tuition during the semester, and I will no longer be eligible for ACCE. *
Required
I understand if I withdraw from or fail any credits during the semester I must reimburse the program for the credits withdrawn from or failed by the end of that semester. If I do not reimburse the program by the end of that semester, I will no longer be eligible for ACCE. *
Required
I understand that it is strongly recommended to improve my academic success that I do not have a job during the first semester of the program. *
Required
I understand the ONLY online/hybrid course I can take during the first semester is the College Success Skills course (1 credit) *
Required
I understand I am required to attend a New River Community College New Student Orientation session. *
Required
I understand I may be asked to attend a recognition ceremony, and that attendance is mandatory if scheduled. *
Required
I understand that I must complete 40 hours of community service each semester (80 hours per year) while in the ACCE program. *
This is your commitment to provide volunteer service hours to Floyd County as a way of "giving back" to the community. Your tuition payment is NOT considered payment from the county for the hours you work.
Required
I understand that I must meet with my Connection Specialist at least once each semester. *
