PDA DE&I Committee Signup
Thank you for your interest! This form will let you sign up for the PDA's DE&I Committee. You can read more about the committee on our website: https://pda.mit.edu/resources/diversity/

Your level of involvement is entirely up to you! You can simply sign up to receive our emails, participate in meetings to share ideas, or go further organizing events, helping with advocacy, etc.

This form will let us send you a welcome email with more information, a link to our Slack channel, and a zoom link for the monthly meeting. You can choose to sign up for the email list below as well. We use the email list to share DE&I related events and resources for postdocs, as well as organize the committee. You can always unsubscribe later.

It is essential that we approach discussions in the committee from a place of respect and understanding. The following ground rules have been set for our discussions and must be agreed to before participating.

1. Listen actively -- respect others when they are talking.

2. Speak from your own experience instead of generalizing ("I" instead of "they," "we," and "you").

3. Do not be afraid to respectfully challenge one another by asking questions, but refrain from personal attacks -- focus on ideas.

4. Participate to the fullest of your ability -- community growth depends on the inclusion of every individual voice.

5. Instead of invalidating somebody else's story with your own spin on her or his experience, share your own story and experience.

6. The goal is not to agree -- it is to gain a deeper understanding.

7. Be conscious of body language and nonverbal responses -- they can be as disrespectful as words.
