We're a legal tech company looking for a part-time Laravel developer to help build and maintain our production platform. Remote, flexible hours, US-based.
NotaryDash.com simplifies and secures document signing globally through a network of 260,000+ notaries and legal service providers. Our platform powers remote online notarization, real estate closings, mass tort claimant connection, and corporate legal team workflows.
The RoleWe're looking for a part-time Laravel developer to work alongside our lead developer on an existing production application. You'll pick up tickets from a prioritized backlog and ship code independently. This is hands-on feature development and bug fixing — not architecture astronautics.
What You'll Do- Build and ship features from a prioritized backlog
- Fix bugs and resolve production issues
- Write clean, testable code with proper migrations and documentation
- Collaborate async via pull requests and code review
- Work with third-party API integrations as needed
Dev Experience- AI-native workflow — unrestricted access to top-tier models, no token limits
- Agentic code review — automated PR analysis so you spend less time on boilerplate
- Ship, don't churn — less grunt work, more building
- Relaxed, but focused — small team, results not lines of code
The StackLaravel 10 on PHP 8.1, MySQL 8 with JSON columns, Redis for caching and queues, Vue.js on the frontend with Tailwind. Nothing exotic — just a well-established production app that handles real money and real documents for real people.
You'll touch things like Twilio for SMS, Google Maps for geolocation across 260k+ notary addresses, payment and invoicing workflows, PDF generation, e-signatures, and a bunch of webhook integrations. The kind of stuff that's actually interesting to debug.
Backend- Laravel 10 on PHP 8.1 — Eloquent, queues, scheduled commands, custom Artisan tooling
- MySQL 8 — complex relational schema with JSON columns, indexed queries at scale
- Redis — caching layer, queue backend, real-time counters
- Laravel Horizon — queue monitoring and job management
Frontend
- Vue.js — reactive components inside Blade templates
- Tailwind CSS — utility-first styling
APIs & Integrations
- Twilio — SMS notifications and two-factor auth
- Google Maps / Distance Matrix API — geolocation, driving time calculations across 260k+ notary addresses
- Payment processing — invoicing, automated billing workflows
- Document signing — PDF generation, e-signature coordination
- Webhooks — inbound and outbound event-driven integrations
AI & Machine Learning- MCP Integrations — We're building Model Context Protocol servers for select clients who want AI-powered access to their platform data. These are privacy-first integrations — zero data retention, no LLM training on client data, strict access scoping. Our clients handle sensitive legal and financial documents, and they know it.
- Private AI — For clients who need it, we're exploring fine-tuned models trained exclusively on their own data, running on isolated infrastructure. No shared weights, no commingled training sets, no third-party inference endpoints. Their data stays theirs — full stop.
Infrastructure- Google Cloud Platform — Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Monitoring
- Docker — local dev environment mirroring production
- GitHub & GitHub Actions — all builds sent through our pipeline for CI/CD
Testing & Quality- PHPUnit — backend test suite, TDD workflow — tests before code
- Playwright — browser-based E2E testing
- Sentry — error tracking and uptime monitoring
What We're Looking For- 2+ years of production Laravel experience (not just tutorials)
- Comfortable working from a ticket queue with minimal hand-holding
- Solid understanding of Eloquent, migrations, and Laravel's request lifecycle
- Experience with Vue.js for frontend work
- Familiarity with Redis, queues, and job processing
- Clean Git workflow — meaningful commits, PRs, no force-pushing to main
- Strong written communication for async collaboration
Nice to Have- Experience with Docker-based development environments
- GCP or cloud infrastructure experience
- Background in legal tech, real estate, or notary services
- Familiarity with payment processing or document signing workflows
- Experience with geolocation APIs or mapping integrations
- Playwright or browser automation testing
Logistics- 10–30 hours per week, flexible scheduling
- $60–$100/hr depending on experience
- Fully remote (US-based / Canadian candidates only)
- Paid trial project to start — we'll give you a real ticket from the backlog
- 1099 contractor position
How to ApplySend a brief intro and a link to your GitHub or a recent Laravel project you've worked on. Skip the cover letter — we'd rather see your code. Bonus points if you can point to a specific PR or feature you shipped.
