CEN is pleased to be able to support our employees in their pursuit of teacher certification in the State of Michigan. Developing and retaining a staff of highly-qualified teachers is a top priority, as it is essential in being able to provide an excellent and equitable education to all CEN students. Through the Certification Financial Assistance Program, CEN commits to paying up to $3,000 toward the cost of an employee’s tuition in an approved alternative route to teacher certification program.
Any full-time employee seeking an initial teaching certificate or seeking an additional endorsement in an area of high need who is in good standing with the organization is eligible for the Certification Financial Assistance Program. Applicants must follow the process to be considered.

Complete initial application for Certification Financial Assistance Program and email

Upon notification from People Ops that your application has been accepted, enroll in one of the approved
programs and provide evidence of enrollment to the People Ops Department.
3. Provide People Ops with tuition invoice and contact information for the billing department. All payments
will be made directly to the alternative route program or institution.
4. People Ops will provide employee with receipt of payment from the institution.
Requirements
1. Employee must be full-time and in good standing with the organization in terms of HR compliance and job
performance throughout the duration of employment and participation in the program.
2. Follow all application process requirements.
3. Complete enough of the program to receive interim teaching certification within one year.
4. Commit to completing the alternative route program within two years. Failure to complete the program
and attain certification will result in repaying the organization the full amount of financial assistance
provided by the academy.
5. Commit to teaching at a CEN school for a minimum of three years in the content area of certification
attained through this program. Failure to complete this commitment will result in repaying the
organization the full amount of financial assistance provided.
