LCA STUDENTS
At the moment the following is our procedure for recommending and selecting
students for L.C.A.:
- The LCA co-ordinator consults with teachers of English and Maths in third year in
order to identify students struggling with ordinary level Junior Cert Maths and
English.
- The LCA co-ordinator consults with the 3 rd year head and with the special needs
dept. in order that students who may struggle with regular leaving cert are
identified.
- A list is drawn up from the above consultations
- The parents are invited to an information evening re LCA programme in our
school.
- Students from that list are invited to apply to do the LCA course.
- In Sept. the junior cert results are reviewed to see if any students were ‘missed’ie
that would struggle to pass the Ordinary Level Leav. Cert.
- A final list of LCA 1 is drawn up.
Are there any gaps in this procedure?
