Reading Pride and Politics / Protest Groups
Reading Pride is a politically neutral organisation and is not affiliated to a political party. In order to ensure that people feel safe in the parade, we ask that any political protests are family friendly and are not disruptive to the parade or to the general public, and does not prevent Reading Pride from ensuring the safety of those taking part. Any group in violation of this will be denied entry to the parade. If a person or group deliberately protests in a way that is unacceptably disruptive, those people will be asked to leave. Any person or group who causes a delay or disruption to the parade will be liable for any expenses incurred by Reading Pride to deal with this. ~~~~~ Our general terms and conditions The health and safety of everyone in the parade is our prime concern, so we ask you to read through these carefully and make sure you abide by them on the day. This helps our volunteers and you.
We do not allow any alcohol or drugs to be consumed throughout the parade.
As we are a family friendly parade, we require all participants to wear clothing at least equivalent to swimwear. For everyone’s safety, all combustible material needs to be properly and adequately treated with flameproof or fire retardant materials. We also do not allow any naked flames throughout the parade. Please make sure that there is a nominated responsible, contactable individual available and present with the parade at all times. As Reading Pride is moving to a more environmentally friendly Pride, we ask groups to refrain from handing out flyers and single use plastic items. For example a balloon or party poppers. We reserve the right to change the order of the parade at any time without any prior notice to participants or spectators - this helps us to ensure the smooth running of the parade. If you are a social group, you don’t need formal status to register - as long as you abide with our terms and conditions. And finally, the Reading Pride Committee, it’s team of volunteers, agents and insurers are not liable for any damage to persons or property resulting from your entry in the parade. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any person or group in violation of these terms. By continuing with registration you confirm that you will abide by these terms and accept that if you breach them, you may be refused entry or removed from the parade.
WE WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST LOCAL COMPANIES TAKING PART IN THE PARADE TO CONSIDER DONATING A SUGGESTED SUM OF £50 OR MORE AND FOR NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES TAKING PART IN THE PARADE TO CONSIDER DONATING A SUGGESTED SUM OF £100 OR MORE. If you are ready, we’ll start the registration process by taking some details.
