Welcome to our Corn Parade!    🌽   2023 Cornhuskin' Parade Request Form
This year, the Corn Parade promises big things-- each group gets up to five (5) minutes in front of the Johnson Fountain to showcase talent. We will have an emcee to announce each group (think Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade style), and your group will have dedicated time to perform.
  • Are you the Co-Chairs of the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Class, and you want to give onlookers a teaser trailer of what is to come in the Main Event skit?
  • Do you belong to a dance troupe on campus and want to have your five minutes of fame in front of the Meredith community?
  • Are you an official student organization or club that has a special talent to share?
  • Does your athletic group want to show off your dribbling skills?
  • Are you part of the fall theater production and want to model the costumes while reciting some lines?
  • Are you a faculty or staff department that wants to do a little song-and-dance?
If you answered yes to any of those, and your Class, Department, Student Organization, or group wishes to participate in the 2023 Cornhuskin' Parade, you must submit this form no later than Tuesday, October 24th at 5pm to request participation. Please review the information listed in the Cornhuskin' Manual found here (link opens in a new tab) regarding the parade! It is your responsibility to read the Manual thoroughly in order to understand what is allowed/not allowed, and what is expected of you and your group. Here is what is allowed for parade participants in the actual parade walk:
  • All student groups, staff, and/or faculty departments: -1 child sized wagon - 1 non-Meredith student (may request 1 additional non-Meredith student as needed to operate an accommodation vehicle). Note: students participating in the parade with an organization are encouraged to circle back and join their class after their organization finishes the parade when they reach South Campus Drive for unloading.
  • Freshmen: - 1 bike - 5 non-Meredith students (approved by MRA) - 1 small balloon arch

  • Sophomores: - 2 bikes - 10 non-Meredith students (approved by MRA) - 1 medium balloon arch (as measured by Corn Board/SLS).

  • Juniors: - 2 bikes - 1 child sized wagon - 20 non-Meredith students (approved by MRA) - 1 large balloon arch (as measured by Corn Board/SLS).

  • Seniors: - Unlimited bikes/wagons - Unlimited non-Meredith students (approved by MRA) - 3 small* and 1 extra large balloon arch (as measured by Corn Board/SLS) *Dependent upon helium levels.

We value inclusion and access for all participants and are pleased to provide reasonable accommodations for the Parade. If you or a member of your group requires an accommodation vehicle in order to more easily participate in the Parade, please click on this link here (link opens in new tab). In addition to physical accessibility accommodations, we are also offering sensory accommodations, such as noise reduction headphones and sensory grab bags. Please see our Cornhuskin’ Accessibility Plan (link opens in new tab) and encourage the members of your Class or group to email Kacey Reynolds Schedler, SLS Assistant Director/MRA Advisor (klreynolds@meredith.edu), if they need to make a reasonable accommodation request or have any questions about accessibility.
