THE RAW ROOM IS
A room in our house available to others, visiting artists, writers, activists and other passing-through-people as a kind of SF Bay Area residency, for people who want / need a free place to stay.

A place where we can accommodate people for one night to up to a week at a time.

A sunny room with an east-facing window, curtains, a queen bed with a very comfortable mattress, a dresser, and a small closet.

Access to the rest of the house: shared bathroom, very well equipped kitchen with a lot of fermented things on the counter, small backyard with a vegetable garden, common space for working/reading/computering, linens/towels provided.

Opportunity to share food/cooking/eating, though by no means required.

Shared with Leora and Josh, who are partners who live in the other bedroom and often work from home. We have extra keys for anyone to of course come and go as they please, and we are working on getting a guest bike set up soon.

Open to 1-2 people at a time -- 2 people if they are open to sleeping in the same queen-sized bed. 1 child at a time is welcome, as one of those 2 people, when accompanied by a caregiver and if able to share that one bed.

About a 10 minute walk to Oakland's Laurel district and a 10 minute drive to Fruitvale BART or downtown Oakland. There are lot of buses that stop nearby on their way to San Francisco and Oakland, as well as a casual carpool stop, walking distance public pool at Mills College, and delicious tacos always a few blocks away.

Unfortunately not super accessible to all body needs: the house has about 25 steps to get up to the front door, and the bathroom is somewhat narrow. Unfortunately we can't accommodate any non-human animals with you as part of your stay.
