The Downtown Madison Family Halloween has become an annual tradition with an afternoon of free and low-cost family fun on State Street and the Capitol Square. The afternoon includes magic shows, hayrides, spooky stories, performances, arts & crafts, and more! The main highlight is trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses!

An estimated 1,500 families participated in 2015 and 2016.

How to participate:
• Complete this form.
• Be open from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Wed. Oct. 25 (If you close slightly earlier than 6 pm, just let us know)
• Provide/distribute treats or items of your choice *
• Visibly display the BID-provided “Stop In Here” poster and balloons.

The BID will provide a printed a list and map of activity and trick or treat locations.

- Businesses finds it works well to have a staff member scheduled from 3-6 pm, located outside or at business entrance, to handle trick or treaters.
- Consider having some non-candy items (e.g., stickers, pens or pencils, plastic jewelry) for kids with food allergies.

* BID will provide participating trick or treat locations with some candy (approx. 150 pieces) to offset the cost of participating. This won’t cover all trick or treating needs, but should help offset business costs.

Presented by Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) with support from the
Greater State Street Business Association (GSSBA).
