IS NOW A GOOD TIME FOR A RETREAT?
Meditation involves a fair amount of time coming closer to our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations. For some individuals, a silent retreat can cause certain feelings and memories to become intensified. This can sometimes be uncomfortable, but there are also a number of resources available to support you.
If you have a history of psychiatric challenges, especially trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder, you are encouraged to let the Retreat Teacher know. If you have had a recent traumatic event, such as the death of a loved one or a serious illness diagnosis, this may be a challenging time to engage in a retreat. If you are working with difficult emotional and mental states, or are feeling vulnerable, it will be important for the Retreat Teachers to know so that they can be as supportive as possible.
