Join the WNC Diversity Engagement Coalition on January 17th from 11:30 – 1:00 at MAHEC for a FREE Lunch and Learn facilitated by David Carr, Asheville Way Facilitator for the City of Asheville, where we will offer you tools to resolve conflict.
Unresolved conflict can result in feelings of dissatisfaction, unhappiness, hopelessness, depression, and other emotions.
“Bickering, arguing or getting insistent about your point of view indicate someone who is unskilled at handling conflicts in a collaborative way.” - Susan Heitler Ph.D.
When conflict becomes evident, fear is present. We fear not being respected, not being heard, being betrayed or even being made to feel subhuman. Fear creates a fight or flight response. We may shut down and become silent or we raise our voice and perhaps strike something or even someone.
Resolving conflict is the ultimate challenge of problem solving through collaboration and cooperation.
