We want Bloomfield Avenue to be safer.
"Pedestrian fatalities account for about half of all motor vehicle deaths in Essex County, which ranks among the highest rate in New Jersey. Since 2011, 45 pedestrians have been killed on the roads in Essex County. One of the area’s most dangerous corridors for pedestrians is Bloomfield Avenue, which serves as a major artery between Newark and its surrounding communities." --State of New Jersey, Department of Law and Safety.
Bloomfield Avenue is a county road. The county needs to see that all of us, regardless of if we live in Bloomfield, Glenridge, Montclair, Belleville, Verona West Caldwell or Caldwell or even places that don't directly intersect such as Maplewood, West, Orange, East Orange, Orange and Nutley, want a safer Bloomfield Avenue.
We want to share the road with our children, our seniors and each other. We want Complete Streets.
