Ruby Europe is taking shape as a continent-wide community: open, developer-first, event-driven. Think local meetups, international conferences, speaker exchange program, sponsorship, various partnerships, and a Ruby Academy - all supported by a shared identity and playbook.
We're now entering a growth phase focusing on quick wins and building a small, trusted core team. That’s where you come in.
This form is a quick way for us to align, exchange ideas, and (hopefully) start building things together.
Thanks for reading 🙏
TL;DR – Here’s the strategy in a nutshell
Long-term goals:
A strong, diverse and recognizable Ruby community across Europe, that:
- supports local events (meetups, workshops),
- helps grow new talent (Academy, Rails Girls),
- promotes knowledge (speaker exchange, Ruby+AI),
- builds a connected online network (Discord, social).
Growth Phase (June-July):
- Build the core team (community manager + marketing + sponsorships + meetup coordinator).
- Develop stronger social media presence.
- Map and support active meetup organizers in top 10 cities.
- Define a value pack for meetups joining the Ruby Europe umbrella brand.
- Kick off Ruby+AI tour (we already have a confirmed date for 24th of June in Berlin)
Phase 2 (Aug–Sep):
- Expand Ruby+AI tour (at least two more cities, eg. London)
- Collaborate with other ruby organisations to expand the European Ruby Meetups map and build the cornerstone of the speakers exchange programme.
- Launch the Ruby Europe Academy (beta)
Phase 3 (Q4):
- Scale meetups using the “Spain Triangle” model
- Develop stable investor relationships and gain funding.
TL;DR (2)💡 A few words about the initiatives we're building
Here’s what we’re working on—and how the pieces fit together:
Ruby+AI Tour
It's a series of community meetups across Europe, co-hosted by local organizers and guest speakers from other countries. During these events, we’ll recruit speakers and promote the Speakers Exchange Program.
Speakers Exchange Program
A way for experienced and aspiring speakers to travel and present at meetups in other cities, with support and sponsorship from the Ruby Europe. We want to make it easier to share knowledge and cross-pollinate communities.
Ruby Europe Academy
A month-length, hands-on learning program online for newcomers - especially those coming from Rails Girls or meetups. Participants from Rails Girls will get a discounted entry and fast-track access to the Academy.
