Our aim is to make life easier, especially for older people and those who are more vulnerable.
How can you help?
- You can help with shopping for those who are unable to go to the shops themselves.
- Join as a Neighbourhood Buddy. Our Buddies are currently helping out with shopping, befriending (via the phone until safe to do so in person), running errands (such as collecting books from the library). Buddies work in teams so that people in need can always get the right help.
- Join our telephone Helpline Team. The role is to be friendly and conversational, caring but discrete, a fellow resident of Ross. The purpose is to organise provision of practical help if it cannot be provided by family or close friends. A Helpline volunteer will currently work one morning or afternoon every 2 weeks. You will need an internet connection, a computer, and a phone (or the ability to use VOIP on your computer).
- Help us with the delivery of our newsletter which is delivered every 3 months to every home in Ross, Bristow and Weston-under-Penyard.
- Join our Communications team, to help promote our work through social media or our newsletter?
- Could you be a team coordinator? As our activities expand we need volunteers to help to support, motivate and organise small teams of volunteers. If you have experience of working successfully in teams (large or small) let us know below what your key experience, skills and enthusiasms are.
Neighbourhood Befriender and Helpline volunteers will be offered training and if required (dependent upon volunteer role) be DBS checked for safeguarding purposes.
If you would like to get involved, just fill in this form! We will contact you to discuss the volunteering opportunities further.
