Would you like us to invoice your employer for supervision?

The ISST requires you to work with a minimum of 2 clients, for at least 25 therapy hours each; one client with a 'personality disorder' or significant 'personality disorder' features, the remaining clients appropriate for schema mode work due to complication, failure to respond to treatment or relapse. Also, the required minimum cumulative (i.e. over all clients) schema therapy hours is 80. Can you do this?

The Certification Programme process requires that your supervisor and external rater(s) have access to recorded sessions with your clients. Is this acceptable, and has it been agreed by your workplace/employer? This is an essential element of training!

Academic training: You must hold at least a bachelors (Hons) degree in a psychologically related subject (but please contact us if you don't as there may be mitigating circumstances which can be applied). This applies to candidates who are not BABCP or BACP accredited (there are additional criteria that need to be met related to supervised clinical hours and taught hours etc)

Accreditation for clinical practice: accreditation with one of the following regulatory bodies, allowing you to provide one-to-one individual therapy confers automatic eligibility (in conjunction with a bachelors (Hons) degree in any subject) to enter a UK Schema Therapy certification programme:

a. BABCP (Full accreditation is required)

b. BACP (at least accredited membership is required MBACP (ACCRED))

c. Psychologists are not required to belong to the BABCP or BACP but must be registered with the HCPC as practicing (counselling, clinical or forensic) psychologists.

d. Applicants accredited to organisations not listed above will require full accreditation with their own organisations (such as UKCP, BPC, BPF, NCS, etc) and their applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and will be required to meet UK Minimum Standards for eligibility.

e. Applicants not holding accredited membership to one of the above bodies may still be eligible to join an ISST-approved training programme if they hold a core qualification in mental health. Please contact us for more details.
