Eula ISD Definition of Gifted and Talented
Gifted and talented students are those who perform consistently or who show the potential to perform in a specific academic field or fields and/or general intellectual ability. They are students who require differentiated educational programs or activities beyond those normally provided by the regular school program. The Eula ISD recognizes that students identified as gifted and talented come from all races, socioeconomic groups, geographic locales and environments.
 
State Definition of Gifted and Talented
Gifted and Talented student means a child or youth who performs or shows the potential for performing at a remarkable high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
1)   exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area:
2)   possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
3)   excels in a specific academic field. (TEC 29.121)

 Students may be nominated/referred for the gifted and talented program at any time by teachers, counselors, parents, or other interested persons.   Referrals are due by December 14th @ 3 PM.  
The evaluation process can take up to 8 hours per student and may not get completed until the end of the year.  

 Program admission is based on a minimum of three equally weighted criteria that represent both objective and subjective assessment. The criteria may include but not be limited to the following;
1.   Intelligence tests
2.   Parent behavioral checklist
3.   Teacher behavioral checklist
4.   SOI (Structure of Intellect)
5.   Non-verbal mental abilities test
6.   Creativity assessment
7.   Teacher nomination based on classroom observations
8.   Student work products, if available
·         Parent/Guardian permission will be requested for any testing which is not given to the entire grade level.
The evaluation process can take up to 8 hours per student and will not get completed until the end of the year.  Qualifying students will not be placed until August 2026 (with the exception of kindergarten).
