Fees: $80 for one child. $40 for each additional child from the same family.
Appointments are available from May 1, 2019 to June 14, 2019The deadline for submission to MEES is June 15, 2019
What will I need to show you?2-4 samples of each for each subject area. These can be writing samples, reading lists, photos, receipts from group classes, visits to museums etc. If you do not have traces of your child's work in any particular area, we can talk in some more detail about what you as the parent observed. I will also need to see the learning plan and midterm report you submitted to the government. You have to right to change your plan so don't worry if progress does not correlate. The ministry however, will be comparing all documents, so it is best to be proactive and do our own comparison ahead of time.
How do you see my child's work? You can send me pdf samples of your child's work by email a week before the evaluation. Links to Google Drive, Seesaw, video or audio recordings or just dropping work off at my house also work.
Does my child need to be present? This is totally at your discretion. Some children love to show off their work and others prefer not to interact with strangers. Either way, your child's "performance" during the evaluation will not be the sole method of documentation
Where will we meet?I use an online platform called Zoom. Once you book an evaluation, I will send you a link with the date and time of the meeting. It is very simple to use. The meeting normally takes up to 30 minutes for one child and 15 minutes for the additional child. We will complete the evaluation together during this time and you will receive a copy to submit to MEES.
What if we cannot come to an agreement? This is extremely rare. As a homeschooling parent myself, I am convinced that parents are the best observers of their child's progress. My job is to put that progress into "teacher language." If it happens that we are in total disagreement, you are free to seek a second opinion from another teacher or to use one of the other evaluation methods outlined in the regulations. I do not send any reports to the ministry, and you are not obliged to use my report. You are still responsible for making the complete payment.
How are payments made?I require a 50% deposit to confirm a reservation. The balance is to be paid the day of the evaluation. You can send an electronic monetary transfer from your bank to email@example.com
Can I see a sample evaluation report?Sure. Here it is. Sample Evaluation Report - PDF Version 2018-2019https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Wo94uwKg3IKQK4EOzymRFrywq0AeO9sO0Cw_JyFhQZ8/edit?usp=sharing
