2018 Fresh Coast Plein Air: Painting the Landscape - Registration Form
Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30, 2018
Marquette, MI 49855
The second annual Fresh Coast Plein Air: Painting the Landscape will be held in beautiful Marquette, Michigan as a part of the City of Marquette Art Week. The event will take place on Saturday, June 30, 2018, with the addition of a special Dusk to Dark competition segment to take place on the evening of Friday, June 29. Painters will choose a spot along Marquette's sterling shores, paint underneath the beautiful summer skies, and create unique, one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Paintings must be created outdoors, on-site, and must illustrate or be inspired by real-life scenes of the area, and artists may paint at any Marquette location from Founder's Landing to Presque Isle Park, along the shore or in town.

Registration for the Dusk to Dark competition segment will take place from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Peter White Public Library (217 N. Front St. in Marquette), and painters will have the evening to complete their pieces before submitting on Saturday.

Registration for Saturday's main competition will take place from 7:00am-9:00am at the Presque Isle Pavilion just north of Marquette, and painters will have until 4:00pm to finish and submit their pieces. Finished pieces from both competitions can be returned to the Pavilion to be displayed and considered for judging.

A fee of $25.00 will be collected in-person upon registration for those who pre-register, and $35.00 for those who register at the door. An artist may submit one or two blank canvases/substrates to be stamped for entries. Registered artists will receive an informational packet as the event draws near that includes painting venues, a map, a restroom guide, and local attractions.

Judging of both competitions will take place immediately following the conclusion of Saturday's painting time once all pieces are submitted. Artists may bring frames for pieces if desired, but this is not required. Frames may be wired for hanging or displayed on easels - a limited number of easels and display screens will be available for use.

A public reception will be held from 5:00pm-8:30pm at the Presque Isle Pavilion, during which an awards ceremony will be held and barbecue, drinks, and other refreshments provided. Awards totaling at least $2,000 will be awarded for Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, Honorable Mentions, and People's Choice categories.
