Course Description
Through a guided study of this book by Timothy Kanold, a teacher & principal who worked with Rick DuFour at Adlai E. Stevenson High School during the dawn of the PLC movement, you will examine the 5 HEART aspects of your professional
- Happiness: a passion for teaching, a purpose, and a desire to positively impact education
- Engagement: teacher motivation, energy, and effort necessary to impact student learning
- Alliances: relationships, collaborative teaching, and teacher support
- Risk: vision-focused risk taking to create sustainable change in schools
- Thought: the knowledge and professional development integral to advancing your career

Through personal reflections during the reading, as well as online discussion with colleagues related to each section,
readers will discover (or re-discover) their personal answer to the question "Why Teach." Through this journey, you will be
inspired and equipped to advance your career in education. Books will be provided to each participant on the first night.

Participants will complete weekly Google Classroom activities related the that week's reading on their own schedule within the week.
