Please read all terms carefully. All terms are non-negotiable. By signing this form, you agree to the following conditions. The Museum reserves the right to exclude any artwork from the exhibition if these terms cannot be met.
1. Application Completion: Artists must complete this Drop-Off Form in its entirety prior to delivering their artwork to the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB).
2. Liability Waiver: MCASB is not liable for damage, loss, or destruction of artwork caused by weather, natural disasters (including but not limited to fire, earthquake, tsunami, or flooding), theft, or any other incident occurring before, during, or after the exhibition. Artists must either maintain personal insurance coverage for their work or accept full responsibility for any losses that may occur.
3. Artwork Sales: Artwork sales are managed exclusively by MCASB. If an artist elects to sell their work, MCASB will collect between 50% and 100% of the total sale price, as selected by the artist on this form. All proceeds support MCASB exhibitions and programs.
4. Gallery Events: MCASB reserves the right to host events in the gallery space throughout the Arte del Pueblo 2026 show, including private events, community gatherings, and performances. MCASB will ensure that such events do not conflict with major exhibition dates or openings, and that the integrity of the exhibition is preserved during any such event.
5. Photography & Media Rights: By participating, artists consent to their image and artwork being photographed, filmed, and recorded by MCASB for use in social media, press, and promotional materials. MCASB is not responsible for photography, recording, or reproduction of artwork by third parties. MCASB is not liable for any copyright violations committed by third-party individuals.
6. Exhibition Timeline & Early Removal: Artists agree to respect the full duration of the exhibition. Artwork must be delivered on the designated drop-off date and remain on display through the close of the exhibition on July 25, 2026 at 6:00 PM. Early removal of artwork is not permitted, as it disrupts the integrity of the exhibition and is unfair to fellow participating artists. Artists who remove their work before the close of the exhibition will be assessed a $50 penalty fee.
7. Artwork Pick-Up: Artists must collect their artwork on the scheduled pick-up date: Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM PST. If an artist is unable to retrieve their artwork on this date, they must contact museum staff in advance to arrange an alternative pick-up between July 27 - August 2, 2026. Artwork not claimed by August 2, 2026 without prior arrangement will incur a $50 penalty per week of additional storage. MCASB is not responsible for unclaimed artwork after this period.
8. Curatorial Discretion: MCASB's mission is to enrich lives and inspire critical thinking through meaningful engagement with art and ideas. We provide the Santa Barbara and Central Coast communities with exhibitions and programming that encourage discovery, cultivate new perspectives, and expand the ways we see and experience the world. In alignment with this mission, MCASB reserves the right to decline or remove any artwork that conflicts with our commitment to a safe, inclusive, and educational space.
