Taylor Elementary PTA Volunteer Form- 2024-2025 School Year
One of the reasons that Taylor is such a fantastic school is the high level of community involvement. Volunteering is a fun way to make new friends, learn more about the school, and invest in your child’s future. Everyone in the community has something to offer and we welcome any contribution of time you can offer.

In this document, you’ll find a short summary for each significant volunteer opportunity.

If you are interested in chairing, co-chairing, or helping with a community event this academic year, please complete the online volunteer form. This is the most efficient way for the PTA to gather your volunteer area of interest and distribute the information quickly to the appropriate committee chair or contact.

Please note, Oak Grove School District requires volunteers who are at the school more than 8 hours in the academic year, who will have contact with students outside the presence of a teacher or certified staff member (even briefly), or who is going to be a chaperone for a field trip to be cleared through the district. You can find the volunteer requirements on the Oak Grove School District website.

Volunteer Opportunities: One-Time Events
Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024. We need help planning the event as well as help on the day of the event.
Book Fair
We need many volunteers to make this event a success. It's a great way to help out our school and to get books into the hands of our kids. We need help with setup, book fair shifts, and cleanup. Book fair dates to come!
Movie Night
We sometimes need help with various tasks at movie night like helping organize the seating area and passing out glow sticks. Movie night date to come!
Polar Express Event
We sometimes need help with various tasks at the Polar Express event like helping pass out hot chocolate, helping pass out bells, and line management. This event will be on December 20th after school.
Bingo
We sometimes need help with various tasks at bingo like setting up the cafeteria, passing out bingo supplies, and distributing prizes. This event is generally held in March around 7:00 PM.
Family Dance
This year we are going to host our first family dance that will be paired with our auction. We anticipate that we will need many volunteers for this event. We will need help with planning, setup, decorations, snacks, and cleanup. Please see below if you are interested in being a basket maker for the auction that will be paired with this dance.
Classroom Auction Basket Maker
As part of our family dance, we will be bringing back our classroom basket auction. We need basket makers in order for this important fundraiser to be successful. This role includes making a classroom basket wishlist based on the theme that your teacher selects, collect the items from the teacher or be willing to have parents ship items directly to your home, itemize the basket and estimate the value, take photos of all items in the basket for the website, and put the basket together.
Taylor Olympics
Taylor Olympics consist of three days of events, where all Taylor students are invited to enjoy outdoor activities and competition, while learning about the history of the Olympics and their designated country. We need a lot of volunteers for set-up, clean-up, and to run the stations. Shifts are as short as one hour and 15 mins, and you are welcome to sign-up to help when your student will be competing! Visitors will not be allowed on campus unless volunteering. We'd love as much help as we can get to help make this an awesome event.
Volunteer Opportunities: In-Classroom
Art Vistas
Art Vista is a volunteer-run art program.  Volunteers teach a 1-hour art lesson once a month to their child’s class. All of the lessons and material are provided for you!
Field Trip Chaperone
Please note that field trip chaperones must be cleared through the district in order to attend a field trip. The district form can be found here: https://www.ogsd.net/our-schools/volunteer-informationrequirements. If you plan to be a driver, a valid CA Driver's License and proof of insurance coverage are also required.  These additional forms can be accessed in the school front office
Volunteer Opportunities: At-Home
Yearbook
Help with the yearbook can look like taking photos at events, helping with the yearbook design, helping with 6th grade dedication ads, help designing class pages, and yearbook sales.
Translation Help
We are hoping to offer more of our flyers/communications in multiple languages. If you speak Spanish or Vietnamese and are willing to help us translate our flyers/communications, we would love your help!

Volunteer Opportunities: General Help
Student Store
The student store allows students to exchange Taylor Tiger Tickets for prizes. It occurs once per month from 11:15-1:10. We need volunteers who are able to help in the store and with line management.
PTA Budget Committee
We need a few parents who are not on the PTA board to serve on the PTA Budget Committee. This commitment is for two budget meetings per year, plus if interested one person can run our audit for the year.
Crossing Guards
We are looking into the possibility of having parent volunteers to be crossing guards around the school. If you are interested in leading this committee, or if you are interested in being a volunteer crossing guard, we would love your help!
Picture Day Help
The school needs volunteers each picture day to help with lines and with getting classes to their appointments.
Vision and Hearing Screening Help
The school needs volunteers for vision and hearing screenings to help with lines and with getting classes to their appointments.
Other Talents and Skills
There are a number of ‘one off’ or short term projects that need special talents and skills. If you have skills/experience in any of the following – and have time to offer services, please select any opportunities that interest you below.
