Organic Veg Boxes from Primrose Market Garden

Primrose Market Garden is an organic, no-dig, regenerative permaculture garden between Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth. Over the last 35 years we have produced a huge selection of delicious salad, veg and fruit, to feed the local community.  This year, we are hoping to grow our veg box scheme to feed more families near us and help get nutritious food to those who need it.

We produce weekly or fortnightly boxes, with a share of the best things we’ve harvested or sourced from our favourite local growers, and it’s all organic. The boxes change with the seasons; providing hearty winter veg at the beginning the year, and the fruits of rich summer harvests when the garden is most abundant. Our seasonal food is delicious, nutritious and sustainable, with a minimal carbon footprint.

Our small business relies on community support and we love the feedback we receive from our loyal customers; we couldn't do this without you.

Our veg box, August 2023 (French Beans, Beetroot, Carrots, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Onions, Basil, Potatoes, Primrose Salad)
Our weekly veg box is intended to be the right size for two people. If you eat a lot of veg, or have a bigger family, two boxes may be more appropriate. Alternatively, if it’s for just one person, or you don’t get through as much veg, you’re welcome to order one for every other week!
We don’t offer ‘one off’ boxes, but you can cancel or pause by simply emailing us, as explained below.

Our boxes can be collected with the following options; please let us know which you would prefer to book your slot. We’re a small team, so can’t tailor boxes to you, but you can swap out things on collection from the farm gates or the market stall.

Required

Our veg boxes are £12 each, and always contain £12 - £15 worth of produce depending on the harvest that week and the time of year. (More example photos below)

We ask customers to set up a standing order to reduce the risk of missed payments which create extra work for our team!

If you’re going to be away you can let us know, then cancel that week's payment, roll it on, or donate that week's box to our solidarity scheme (see below).

Please confirm that you will set up a standing order to pay for each box by Wednesday each week/ fortnight.

We believe fresh, organic, local produce should be accessible to everyone, no matter their circumstances, but it’s a challenge for us to do that whilst still ensuring our small business is viable. So we are asking for your support!

If you can afford to pay a little extra on top of the veg box price each week (or make a one off donation) we can then provide free or subsidised boxes to nominated people in our community.

Please contact us if you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for support from our Solidarity Box scheme.

Would you like to support our solidarity scheme, making local, organic veg available to those who need it?

Last year we often had uncollected boxes and a significant proportion of that produce ended up going to waste. So if you don’t collect your box (without letting us know) we will ask you to pay for that week's box.

Please confirm that you will email us to pause or cancel your veg box subscription by 5pm each Wednesday if you don't require it.

We will try to send out regular emails with details of what’s in the boxes, and storing/cooking ideas. We also send other emails occasionally to let you know our news from the farm.  If you’d rather not receive these, do let us know.

We love to hear ideas and feedback from our customers about our veg boxes and ways to improve our subscription scheme.
Could you help deliver boxes to your neighbours/ friends?
Do you know of a pick up point we could use near you to drop off boxes?
Please do let us know if you have any other comments, suggestions or questions!
