About GEYA:
GEYA is a youth-led, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth globally to become active agents of climate change mitigation through innovative, youth-led initiatives. Our mission is to foster global solidarity and sustainable development, creating a healthier planet for present and future generations.
Board of Directors Roles & Responsibilities:
The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, oversight, and ensures GEYA fulfills its mission and goals. All board members are expected to actively participate in meetings, contribute to decision-making, and champion GEYA's cause.
Current Board Positions:
- Vice President: Leads program development and implementation. Monitors project progress and ensures program effectiveness.
- Secretary+Assistant Secretary: Manages record keeping, communication, and membership. Coordinates internal and external communications.
- Treasurer+Assistant Treasurer: Oversees financial management, budgeting, and fundraising. Oversees the Donation for Mother Earth initiative and ensures financial transparency and accountability.
- Events Directors: Develops and handles programs, webinars, etc. and overseers the events committee.
- Communications Directors: Leads public relations, social media, and outreach. Develops and implements Eco-Education Campaigns and manages the Serve for the Future initiative's social media features. Oversees the Social Media committee and Engagement committe.
- Education Directors: Responsible for assigning topics to volunteers, ensuring that content is on-brand, compelling, & optimized to meet GEYA's goals and overseers the content-making committee, graphic design committee, and website design committee.
- International Relations Directors: Builds international partnerships and coordinates with youth groups globally. Facilitates cross-cultural exchange and collaboration. Oversees the Outreach Committee.
- Youth Representatives (1 per Continent): Represents the interests and perspectives of youth members. Advocates for youth-centered approaches and provides input on program development. Facilitates the annual roll of Eco-Youth Ambassadors.
Requirements for Certain Positions:
Due to Philippine legal requirements for non-profit incorporators, ONLY the Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer positions MUST be Filipino citizens of legal age to be an incorporator. This requirement is in accordance with Philippine law, as GEYA's Founder is based in the Philippines where at least 5 positions are required to be held by Filipino citizens.
For ALL DIRECTORS except the above-mentioned position:
• Eligible for 15-35 year olds
• Any nationality
• Passionate about environmental stewardship
• Has working devices for online meetings.
