Changemaking forums
With the publication of Changemakers Radical Strategies for Social Movement Organising, we have an opportunity to bring people together from across the different strands of the social justice movements to explore the big questions:
  • Are we making the most effective strategic choices about how to make change a reality?
  • Who are our people, and how are we organising them?
  • What can we learn from each other's lived experience of advances (and setbacks)?
We are looking for grassroots campaigners to help organise a series of themed event in towns and cities across the country. These could be anything from an evening event, a half day event, or a full day event. We can help plan the use of time, including delivering education sessions based on one or more of the book's chapters, and arrange for books to be available at significant discount. We will be flexible, to ensure the events meet local campaigners needs, and where possible we will put on refreshments. The only stipulation we have is that there must be a minimum of three different social justice movements involved (for example, anti-racism,  community organising, trade unions, environmentalism etc.) A key theme of the book is that we need to think about how we do things differently and one way to stimulate that type of discussion is to have people from different traditions, campaigns and cultures in the same discussion.

If you are interested in helping convene an event, then let us know, and we will work with you to make it a success.

Where would you suggest hosting an event?
Wherever possible we would be looking for a venue, for example, a bookshop, or the offices of a campaign, community, or union group, that was either free, or which charged at 'mates rates'. We need a room big enough to allow for breakout discussions. If you don't have a suggestion that's not a problem.
Which campaign groups do you know in the area, that you would hope to involve in the event?
If you don't know any just say so, we may have connections.
What would your preference be for the timing of the event?
Clear selection
Do you think there are any local groups that might help fund the cost of refreshments, and the venue for the event?
Any final thoughts?
