1.  Rider agrees to pay $175/mo for half hour private lessons or $240/mo for hour group lessons to be pre-paid monthly if participating in monthly lesson program.

a.          Payment shall be due in full on the 1st of each month for that month. A $5/day late fee will apply starting the 5th of the month. Payments must be received no later than the 8th, or rider is subject to removal from the program, and any outstanding balance will be owed.

              i.   All payments are non-refundable

Aa. Drop-in lessons are $50 per lesson due at time of scheduling. No shows will still be charged. No further lessons will be scheduled in that case until previous lesson has been paid.

b.          One client-initiated reschedule is permitted per month. This lesson may be made up within two weeks but is not transferable to another month as a prepaid lesson or refundable.

             i.  Instructor will provide at least 2 days and times for makeup available, and if client cannot make any offered time work within two weeks, lesson in forfeited. If rider is in a group lesson, they may be placed in a different group for the makeup, or choose a shorter private lesson as a makeup at instructor discretion and subject to availability.

c.          If the Rider cancels with less than a 12 business hour notice or does not communicate cancellation at all, the full amount of that day’s lesson will be charged as a no show fee. Make up lessons are not permitted in the case of a no show. Communication received outside of regular business hours (8am-6pm) will be considered received at time of opening.

d.          If Instructor cancels a lesson for any reason, that lesson may be made up within two weeks. No lesson will be refunded or transferred to another month.

2.  Rider understands that all cancellations and rescheduling must be communicated in writing via text or email. If it is discussed in person, it should be followed up with a confirmation in writing. Communication must be during regular business hours (8AM-6PM). (i.e a cancellation text at 11PM for an 11AM lesson does not constitute a proper notice).

If a rider arrives late to their scheduled lesson, their lesson will still end at the designated time, resulting in an overall shorter lesson time.

3. Instructor may remove Rider from program if a pattern of non-payment, no shows, or cancellation arises. Instructor defines “pattern”.

a. Instructor may require a credit card to be on file for clients with patterns of non-payment or delinquent payments

4.  Instructor agrees that if the Rider will be out of town or otherwise unable to come to lessons for several weeks, that Instructor will hold their spot in the program for 50% of lesson fees until Rider is able to return, or Instructor deems too much time has passed (typically 4 or more weeks).

a.          Rider understands that should they choose not to pay these fees to hold their spot, that there may not be space in the program upon their wish to return.

5.  Rider agrees to commit to lessons on a month to month basis and understands that quitting mid-month does not warrant them a refund for the remainder of that month’s lessons paid. A 30 day notice is required to stop lessons. (Notice must be given at the beginning of the student’s last month.) If no notice is given, Rider is still liable for the next 30 days of payment. (not applicable to drop in lessons)

Clear selection

6. Rider understands that lesson lengths may vary, but will be 30-60 min. (depending on private or group) on average.

a.          Lesson lengths may vary depending on what Instructor is working on that week with the Rider.

b.          Lessons that go over allotted time do not require any additional payment from client

c.          Lessons that are under allotted time do not require any made up instruction time from instructor

7. Rider understands that they will not be on the horse for every lesson, and that Instructor may teach other things including but not limited to: scooping manure, cleaning tack, learning names of tools, feeding horses, other barn chores, vet care and anything else the Instructor deems horse/farm related and age appropriate for the rider to learn. These non mounted lessons will be called “Barn Days”.

a.          Rider understands that Instructor will still host barn days during some lessons regardless of participation in horse club, extra volunteer hours outside of lessons, or time spent in program.

b.          Rider understands that during mounted lessons, they may be asked to groom, saddle, catch, and put away their horse as part of their lesson time. Rider may be permitted to untack after lesson time once they have shown to be able to safely do so unsupervised.

   i.        Riders who own their own horse, have a current lease, lesson two or more times per week, and/or own their own tack are permitted to come 10 min early to lessons to tack up/warm up.

c.          Rider understands that there does not have to be a “reason” for a barn day (i.e. bad weather, horse lame, etc) and there is no limit or guaranteed ratio of mounted vs. unmounted lessons each month.

8.   Private lessons: Rider understands that while most lessons will be private lessons, there may be other riders in the ring and some lessons may be semi-private. This allows Rider to learn how to navigate around other horses and riders safely as well as learning some teamwork. Additionally, the arena is always open to lessees and boarders, and they may be riding in the ring while not under direct instruction.

9.  Group Lessons: Rider understands there may be 2-4 riders in any given lesson. Rider will not receive undivided attention the entire lesson. Instructor will focus on each student individually and as a group and Rider will be paired with other riders of similar riding level and age.

10.  Inclement weather policy

a.          Unless otherwise notified, Rider should assume that lessons are being held regardless of weather. If there is any question, Rider will ask Instructor if lessons are being held. Appropriate fees may apply if Rider cancels or no shows due to weather. Dress for the weather.

11.   Rider must acquire appropriate and Instructor approved riding attire including but not limited to properly fitted cowboy boots, bootcut jeans, a certified riding helmet, and fitted shirt. These purchases should be made in a timely manner of one month after lessons start. Instructor agrees to provide a helmet until Rider acquires one.

12.   Rider understands that should they choose to participate in extra events outside of lessons such as clinics or trail rides, that there are additional fees for such events. These event payments are typically due the day of the event, regardless of participation. If you have committed to come to such event (via FB event or written communication) and decide not to come, cancellation fees apply. A limited number of students are allotted for these events, and your cancellation results in unexpected loss of income for Instructor as well as loss of opportunity for other students. (Less than a 48 hour notice will require 50% of that event’s fee if slot cannot be filled. A no show will require full payment.)

13.  All riders using community tack must clean one piece of tack per month, and log it on the tack cleaning sheet, or pay a $15 cleaning fee.
