For over 55 years The Rotary Club of Lexington has awarded scholarships to top performing high school seniors based upon outstanding academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community service. This year we will award $1,000 each to at least eight students on the All Fayette County Academic Team and a $6,000 scholarship (payable in 4 annual installments of $1,500/year) to the overall Rotary Scholar.

We are pleased to award one Rotary First Generation Scholarship in the amount of $1500 to a student based upon academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, community service, and financial need. Eligible students are from families where neither parent attended a four year college or university.

Requirements for Rotary Scholarship

1. Applicant must attend a four year college or university in the United States as a full time student with enrollment commencing in the Fall of 2019.
2. Applicant must have an un-weighted cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.5.(This requirement does not apply to First Generation applicant).
3. Submission of your complete high school transcript through the semester ending December 2018.
4. Applicant must be attending a Lexington, KY high school with a scheduled graduation in the Spring of 2019.

The following criteria will be used in judging applications along with the overall quality of the responses and content of application.
1. Academic Achievement including Class Rank and Test Scores - 50%
2. Leadership - 20%
3. Service above Self and Community Service - 20%
4. Recommendation Letter from Counselor or Other (non-relative) Person who is very familiar with the qualifications of the Applicant- 10%

Special consideration will be given to any Applicant who has overcome great challenges or difficult circumstances to excel.

Applicant must submit a completed application and all supporting materials prior to deadline of Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:59 PM.

NO EXCEPTIONS OR EXTENSIONS TO THE DEADLINE WILL BE ACCEPTED.

After all applications have been reviewed, a select few applicants will be invited for an interview with the members of scholarship committee. Final scholarship recipients will be selected from the applicants who are interviewed.

Rotary Scholarships will be awarded during Rotary Club of Lexington weekly meeting on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
Meeting will take place at Noon at The Red Mile, Lexington, KY 40504. This event is by invitation only and honorees will be notified prior to the meeting.
