March For Our Lives Iowa State Team 2021-2022 Application
The focus of March For Our Lives Iowa is centered around fighting to end gun violence while encouraging youth civic engagement. We do this by working on both sides of the aisle for common sense gun legislation. We want legislators from all parties to take a stand in ending gun violence, ensuring public safety, and supporting our youth.

This is a nationally acclaimed non-profit organization. With chapters in all 50 states. We are a 501(c)(4) which entails that this organization is not organized for profit rather, it must be operated exclusively to promote social welfare. Started by Parkland survivors, this movement is geared towards encouraging students to get involved with politics.

We spurred a historic youth turnout in the 2018 midterm elections, with a 47% increase over the last midterm election and the highest percentage of youth voter turnout ever.

It’s also important to realize that March For Our Lives is a non-partisan organization. This means that we don’t identify with any party or political beliefs, instead we focus on a cause: getting the youth civically active.

Open Positions and Descriptions
Organizing Director: Help grow MFOLIA through chapter engagement. Would be in charge of helping organizing deputies to start chapters in their regions along with creating initiatives to keep existing chapters involved in MFOL and the Iowa legislature. Part of Executive Board. (HIRING CLOSED)

Organizing Deputy: Assigned to a region (most likely the region they live in) to start chapters in surrounding high schools, middle schools, and colleges (college organizing deputy is a separate role). Would be main point of contact for chapter leads and would convey any important information to leads regarding events.

Director of Legislative Affairs: Help grow MFOLIA through policy. Would be in charge of keeping up with state wide legislation, and frequently updating the team on the status of said legislation. Will also head the creation of our annual policy agenda (available to view: https://www.marchforourlivesia.org/legislative-agenda-1). Both of these responsibilities will take place with the help of the Legislative Affairs Associates. Part of Executive Board. (HIRING CLOSED)
 
Legislative Affairs Associate: Affairs: Help grow MFOLIA through policy. Would be in charge of keeping up with state wide legislation, and frequently updating the team on the status of said legislation. Communications Director: Help grow MFOLIA through outreach. In charge of all social media, and press initiatives. Would come up with plans to grow social media followings and has to have experience in contacting press. In charge of Communications team. Part of Executive Board. (HIRING CLOSED)

Communications Associate: Help grow MFOLIA through outreach. Helps with social media and press. Experience in graphic design is encouraged.

IDEA Coordinator: Helps grow MFOLIA through Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access. Would find trainings for chapters and the State Team along with coming up with initiatives to help in these areas. Part of Executive Board. (HIRING CLOSED)
