Thesis topic (~250 words)
A thesis provides an opportunity to conduct an original investigation on the topic of your choice while also demonstrating mastery of program objectives. Please begin by telling us what topic you are passionate about exploring and how you intend to explore it in an original study, including the initial formulation of your research question(s); also explain why you believe the thesis option is necessary for your professional agenda rather than the applied project option (specifically, recognize that a thesis is publicly defended on campus and formally approved by a three-person faculty committee then published by the university; it therefore constitutes a publicly accessible contribution with the potential to influence ongoing “written conversations” among learning scientists.) *
Prior work (~100 words)
Tell us about what you have already done that demonstrates your passion for this topic (readings, course projects, or other significant activities that enabled you to present your topic and questions above). What has been the most productive work so far that you have done to advance your thinking and prepare you for a thesis *
Anticipated Challenges (~100 words)
Conducting your own research study is an exciting opportunity but it is important to recognize that it might also include challenges. Tell us about one challenge that you might encounter then share one initial idea or strategy that you can use to overcome that challenge. *
Prospective Faculty (~50 words)
Thesis students will work with a thesis project faculty advisor with support from two additional faculty thesis committee members. Please identify faculty you with whom you discussed your thesis-related interests who might serve as as your thesis advisor or as a member of your thesis committee. *
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
