CASS Safe Bars Focus Group

Collective Action for Safe Spaces (CASS) mobilizes the DC community to end public sexual harassment and assault. Because alcohol is a major risk factor for harassment and assault, bars are a natural potential ally in our efforts to create safe spaces for all DC residents.

CASS currently offers a Safe Bars training program that trains bar and venue staff on identifying risk factors and effective bystander intervention. We would like to learn from staff in the service industry on ways to incentivize these types of training for area establishments. So, we are asking owners/managers/staff at bars or other alcohol-serving establishments (you!) to attend a focus group on sexual harassment and assault.

Participants will be asked to share their experiences and perspectives on how sexual harassment and assault in alcohol-serving establishments has affected them, their colleagues, and/or their clientele, ways these issues have been addressed in the past, and how the Safe Bars training could work best for you.

The focus group is scheduled for an hour, but we may not utilize the entire hour.

Thursday, August 11th
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
