In collaboration with the Wiki Education Foundation, both Cornell and Arizona are working to encourage more college students to actively edit Wikipedia with accurate, unbiased and well-researched articles. To kick off our event on the 11th we will be joined by a staff member from the Wiki Education Foundation, who will discuss the dearth of women and minority editors in Wikipedia, Wikipedia as a public good, and the work by scholars to make articles on the platform more authoritative (click to be taken to article).
Lunch, snacks, drinks and dessert will be provided. All attendees will learn about Wikipedia’s efforts to improve content, learn how to edit articles in Wikipedia and will work collaboratively to enhance the quality of articles on the platform. Skills in science communication will be enhanced. For more information, including the timeline for events, visit: http://tinyurl.com/manneditathon
