Call for in Participation – MITAMBO INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL 2025

Having showcased over 50 original productions and hosted more than 25 international companies in previous editions, the Mitambo International Theatre Festival 2025 invites theatre companies, independent artists, and cultural practitioners from around the world to submit performances for its annual celebration of theatre. This year’s festival will take place from 11th to 13th September 2025 in Harare, Zimbabwe, under the theme "Redefine."

The theme, "Redefine," invites artists to challenge and rethink traditional notions of theatre, identity, culture, and society. We encourage submissions that question, explore, or reimagine the boundaries of performance art, offering innovative perspectives on what theatre can be in the modern world. This is your chance to push creative limits, amplify diverse voices, and reimagine the role of theatre in today’s global landscape.

Submission Guidelines

  • Complete the application form to express your interest in participating in the festival.
  • Selected participants will receive a formal invitation letter to confirm their participation.
  • Participants are responsible for their travel expenses, including airfare, visas, and any other necessary documentation for entry into Zimbabwe.
  • Accommodation and meals during the festival are also the responsibility of the participants.

Festival Support

The festival organizers will provide:

  • Local transportation within Harare.
  • Performance venues and technical support.
  • Publicity for selected performances.
  • Assistance with the visa application process.

Terms and Conditions

By submitting this form, I agree to the following terms:

  1. I confirm that I own the rights to the work and materials submitted.
  2. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the festival-producing organization, including its directors, management, staff, sponsors, and partners, against any claims arising from the submitted work and promotional materials.
  3. I acknowledge that the festival-producing organization will not be held responsible for any third-party liability resulting from alterations to the festival's format, date, or location.
  4. I grant permission for photos and audiovisual recordings made during the festival to be used free of charge for press coverage, future promotional activities across all media, and fundraising or sponsorship acquisition purposes.
  5. I understand that I am responsible for my travel, accommodation, and meals during the festival. The festival will not provide these services for me or the organization I represent.
  6. I acknowledge that the festival will not provide any performance fees beyond a 60/40 gate split in favor of the artist or company.
  7. In the event of an act of God, I understand that the festival may invite me to share my work in an alternative capacity other than in person. Should this occur, it does not guarantee future in-person programming at the festival.
