Thank you for your interest in applying for the Early Career Committee. The purpose of the committee is to design and carry out DVS' initiatives for early career members.
There are three main subcommittees to get involved with.
1. Contributing to our "Early Career Corner" profile series.
Responsibilities include attending pitch meetings once a month, brainstorming members of the data viz community to feature with mindfulness to whose voices we choose to amplify, ideating questions to ask, conducting interviews, summarizing interview in Q&A profile, etc.
2. Organizing community programming.
Responsibilities include attending programming meetings once a month, ideating topics to organize programming around, reaching out to speakers, organizing event logistics, etc.
3. Engaging our community
Responsibilities include moderating the early career Slack channel, attending monthly engagement meeting, ideating ways we can help build community amongst our early career members, participating in channel discussions, etc.
There will also be the opportunity for committee members to lead and implement their own initiatives for the community. The expected time commitment will be 5-10 hours per month depending on proximity to early career events.
