Following Dr. Rachel McKinnon's win at the World Championships earlier this month, there has been a (terribly transphobic) backlash by some cyclists and media outlets. Despite all this backlash, there has also been a massive emergence of supporters. In order to show the volume of voices that believe firmly that trans women should be included in women's sports, Dr. McKinnon herself suggested a list of supporters which will be turned into a public statement of support. The first step to this is collecting a list of names of those who support trans inclusion. If you agree with the following, please fill out the form below. A public release of the names of signatories is the eventual goal of this campaign; the purpose of this is to create a visual awareness of support*. We recognize that is not without some potential risk for some participating individuals. Please only submit your name if it is safe for you to do so.
1. Trans women are women/trans men are men
2. Sport is a human right
3. Trans women belong in women's sports
4. Trans people should not be discriminated against in sport on the basis of their gender
5. It is important to work toward a greater culture of inclusivity in sport
Mission Statement: To work toward the end of sex and gender based discrimination in sport through creating a visual depiction of the number of people who support inclusivity.
An End Note: We recognize that people experience gendered discrimination, marginalization, and oppression differently and at many levels. Nobody should be subject to this violence. Because this project is meant to support gender inclusivity, and I (writing this) am sitting in a privileged position as a cis woman, it is imperative that I be open to suggestions. I will include my email in the hopes of making this more collaborative. If any phrasing in my writing could be re-worked, or if there is anything I need to add please do not hesitate to reach out to
