About the event and speaker:
Dr. Will Wiebe-Friesen is associate professor of chemistry at Bethel College and organist and music coordinator at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kansas. While a chemist by trade, he has a deep interest in Mennonite hymnody and the roles hymn singing has played throughout the various eras of Mennonite history. The presentation will take us from the earliest Anabaptist songbook, Ausbund, to the newest Mennonite hymnal, Voices Together, including many examples of how Mennonites have used hymn singing outside of worship services.
