We will meet at locations around Western North Carolina throughout the season, most starting at 8:30. Events will include a mild hike at night to observe and learn all about fireflies! Event will last roughly an hour, though may go longer if we're having too much fun! 

Things to bring: good hiking/walking shoes, water, a headlamp or flashlight (preferably with a red setting), appropriate dress for the woods (long pants, long sleeves; nights can get a little chilly - layers recommended!), and a good attitude!

INCLEMENT WEATHER: Observing fireflies in nature is likely to be affected by unpredictable factors like the weather. In the case of heavy rain or storms, the firefly walk will be canceled and you will receive an email and text notifying you of cancellation the day of the event. Don't fret if your day gets rained out, there will be more events in the future!

In the event of light rain or drizzles, fireflies are still likely to be out, so the walks will still take place. Please bring rain gear (boots, jackets) to stay warm and dry. If you are not comfortable being in the rain, then please feel free to stay home with some hot chocolate and a warm blanket! We want everyone to be comfortable and have a positive experience, and there will be more walks in the future to witness our magical fireflies.
