Pittsboro Fire is known to be a leader in fire service response and training. Our
community is uniquely positioned to respond to everything from the common EMS
run to fire and rescue calls which include industrial, agricultural, commercial, mid-rise, and residential. We train for and respond to both hydrated and non-hydrated areas. We also respond across Hendricks County to nearly all special operations calls as a member of the Hendricks County Rescue Task Force. Our Tanker 111 is assigned to all fire runs. Our part-time program is an essential part of our strategy to keep up with a community that is set to grow very quickly in the coming years.
New to the fire service? Bring your minimum certifications to our department. Our part-time members find that our expanding community, increasing run load, and excellent training lead to their personal and professional growth. In fact, many of our current full-time members started with us as part-time members. Our full-time member pay and benefits package is consistent with other departments, including a 2026 PERF pension base of $92,130.09. Good firefighters are building successful careers in Pittsboro.
Not so new to the fire service? We offer excellent paid training opportunities to our part-time members in a great work environment. If you're having trouble getting the training that you want through your full-time department, we'll get you there and pay you to do it. In addition to our regular training opportunities, every member of our department is provided with a Personal Training Budget that can be used for even the most ancillary education. You know better than anyone what training you need. We can get you there. Just this year alone, our part-time members were paid to attend Rope Rescue Technician, Confined Space Rescue Technician, Trench Rescue Technician, and the exclusive Water Thieves Advanced Pumping and Rural Water Supply class.
Pittsboro Fire pays our part-time Firefighter/EMT members $21/hour for EMT, and $25/hour for Paramedics. If you're looking to expand your skills with great training opportunities, flexible work
schedules, and leaders who are invested in your success, finish up the form and we'll look forward to speaking with you when we launch our next hiring process. Processes are initiated as members are needed, which is once or twice per year.
