Through a combination of personal study, life experience, practical application, education, and/or other methods, I have gained a meaningful amount of knowledge that, when shared and internalized, has the potential to benefit men and boys of color.
I am excited about the prospect of freely sharing as an unpaid volunteer the information I have acquired in hopes of others experiencing possible benefits from increased knowledge and awareness.
I don’t know it all, so I utilize both cultural humility and cultural competency during every teaching experience. I accept and have a respect for difference. I also pay attention to and work to fix the power dynamics of difference. I have a lifelong commitment to self-evaluation and self-critique, and I adapt my approaches to better meet the needs of diverse populations. I will not make assumptions about the deficits of individuals who may not have yet studied the topic in which I have gained a level of knowledge or expertise.
I enjoy open language exchange and recognize that there’s an opportunity for me to learn when I engage others, even when I am considered the teacher or facilitator.
