2020-2021 Studio in Art Accelerated Application
Studio in Art will be offered in the 2021-2022 school year to qualified eighth grade students for high school credit. The Studio in Art class offers students the opportunity to participate in forty weeks of art for one period per day. The class will meet during the school day in lieu of student’s exploratory block (Art8/Music8/Engineering8).
Students selected are required to participate in performing music during their home base (Ex. Band, Orchestra or Chorus). Students that successfully complete this course will fulfill the state requirement for one credit in fine art for high school graduation. Students are expected to continue in the art program at the high school. As freshman, they should enroll in Drawing and Painting.
Studio in Art and Studio in Media Arts are designed to provide students with comprehensive experiences in a variety of media as they study and apply the elements and principles of art and design. The goal of this course is to offer challenging opportunities for decision-making, problem solving and self-expression. Students participating in this class will:
1. Demonstrate a strong work ethic
2. Demonstrate a high level of creativity
3. Demonstrate control of artistic materials
