Below is a general summary of the core learning goals for this training. Note that this training will be very interactive, with time for discussion, reflection, and other activities to apply the learning to our everyday work.

- Define key concepts and terms as they relate to our work (for example: identity, health equity, intersectionality).

- Describe the relationship between structural oppression and health and safety outcomes for those we serve, with examples from Worcester and beyond.

- Unpack the legacy of historical racism among communities and its impact today, including the role of inter-generational trauma and resilience.

- Identify opportunities for innovation and to improve skills using practical tools.

- Identify areas for ongoing quality improvement related to racial and gender equity, within Worcester and beyond.

The Worcester Trauma, Resiliency, and Racial Equity Training Institute's mission is to promote shared learning, reflection, and broad engagement that improves community decision-making, health, and well-being within Greater Worcester. Based on this process, we believe it is important to hold throughout the training the following core values:

- People learn best in trauma-informed environments that recognize that we each bring our own identities, history, and experiences.

-Health is influenced by a person's social, economic and environmental conditions, and by exposure to violence and trauma

- Racism and other forms of oppression (such as sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and poverty) impact the health, safety, and healing of individuals, families, and communities in Worcester.

- Learning is an ongoing process that takes place both within ourselves and in connection to others.
