Look out for the FAQ sheet on the website. It is also suggested that you read the VB POINTS OF UNITY before applying to ensure you are aligned with the work and values of the brigade ***

Thank you for applying to join the VB 50th anniversary contingent to Cuba Summer of 2019. Please note that there are two different applications to join this historic brigade. You can find our application for the UNLICENSED TRAVEL CHALLENGE HERE, where we have 300 spots for people to join the VB.

Because of barriers to participation that an unlicensed trip imposes on non-U.S. citizens, formerly incarcerated peoples, people who are disabled and/or elders, this alternate licensed option is being developed for a select number of applicants for the first time in the history of the brigade. In an effort to make the VB 50 celebration events more accessible to the named communities, this LICENSED trip is being made available for up to 30 people who would otherwise be unable to participate in the brigade. Priority to apply for the LICENSED option is given to people who identify as non-U.S. citizens, formerly incarcerated, people who are disabled and/or elders who may be challenged by the summer heat, labor or rigor of the brigade program.

It is important to note that the Licensed trip will be coordinated through a travel agency and will require multiple steps to the application process which are not confirmed at this time. The dates and cost of the trip will be confirmed in early 2019. In the meantime, if you identify with the criteria above, please complete this form so that we can follow up with you.

1. Submit this online form (due no later than March 1st)

2. You will be contacted to complete a mandatory interview (this is to prioritize the collective safety of the brigade)

3. As part of your interview you will be instructed on what the next steps are.

4. Pending acceptance, a deposit will be required to hold your spot.

Each applicant should complete this form ONCE. For families/groups, please fill out one form per applicant. Parents/care givers are expected to fill out one form per child/dependent.

In this form, there is an opportunity to sign up for an information session where more detail will be provided and your questions can be answered.

Exact travel dates and cost will be provided in early 2019. The estimated travel dates are July 28th - August 1st, 2019.
The trip will include all travel, accommodation, food and activities. All participants in this option will stay in simple hotel accommodations and will be expected to participate in Brigade activities to the best of their ability.

Partial financial assistance may be available while funds last. More information will be provided during the interview.
