The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world, providing association information, news, events, and advocacy resources for members, librarians, and library users. The mission of ALA is to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.** GMS will cover and arrange all travel expenses, registration fees, lodging and meals.
Eligibility Criteria & Application Process (the application process is two part)• You are an active scholar (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, 5th year undergraduate, Ed.S., master’s or doctoral Scholar) or on deferment;Part 1• Complete the following survey HERE by April 7th by 11:59pm EST.
Part 2 (This portion should be emailed to the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org )• You must submit an unofficial transcript displaying that you have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA • You must provide your most current resume or curriculum vitae;• You must submit a one page statement of interest indicating the following:(1) Why you are interested in attending the conference (2) How will it positively impact your academic and or professional goals?(3) Discuss your interest in Library Science, Information Science, Access and Literacy.(4) List of any national GMS-funded conferences or events in the past 2 years, (ie, NCORE, Institute on Teaching and Mentoring, Alternative Spring Break, American Library Association,)• You must respond to the following prompt: “Discuss the connection between the current trends in the field of Library Science and Student Success at all levels of education.” Please limit your essay to 300 words or less.
